Mitsubishi Triton 3.2

Mitsubishi Triton 3.2L is a great bit of gear. Everything you want in a small truck for work or play, it is also the most car like in its on road behavior compared to all of the competitors in its class. The interior is well appointed with power windows, Bluetooth phone connectivity, trip computer and more, while the Triton 3.2L Direct Injected diesel engine provides a great mix of torque and fuel economy backed with either a 5sp manual or 4sp auto.

Mitsubishi also clearly figure they’ve got the styling spot on, as the newer Triton MY10 and on models retain virtually all of the same styling cues. While a V6 petrol Triton was also available, Mitsubishi sold as many 3.2L DiD models as they could get their hands on.

The step up in capacity compared with the prior models diesel engine really helps things move along nicely. However like many factory spec direct injected turbo diesel engines, the OEM state of tune is heavily constricted by conservative tuning and strict emissions requirements. The next stage from here would involve exhaust system improvements and potential turbo upgrades.

Triton 4x4 GLX-R best among its competitors over several categories; value technological advancement, built tough, ‘bushability’ and how closely the vehicle matched its design brief and purpose.

“The Triton has gone from strength to strength,”

“The introduction of a 2.5 litre turbo-diesel engine combined with the class leading safety Super Select 4x4 system and tough build means the top-spec Triton is still the best 4x4 dual-cab ute on the market and a well-deserved winner of this year’s 4x4 Ute of the Year title,” he concluded.

It was a combination of consistency, reliability and value for money that separated the Triton from the competition with the Triton receiving full marks in the value category, edging out the pricier Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux.

The Triton boasts a four star ANCAP safety rating with standard safety features including Active Stability Control, dual front SRS airbags, ABS braking system with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body system with front crumple zones to absorb collision energy as well as reinforced supports.

The impressive 2.5 litre turbo-diesel engine generates 11 percent more power, is up to nine percent more fuel efficient and is noticeably quieter than its predecessor.  “The Triton range delivers fantastic value for money and superior four-wheel drive ability along with the comfort and safety features Mitsubishi is known for.”
